Therapy/Counseling

Modern therapy is client driven and goal directed. In the initial sessions, I will listen with compassion and respect as you present the issues troubling you. Many people don’t have a more definite goal than, “I want to feel better.” Together we will create specific goals to focus our time together so you gain the maximum benefit from therapy. We will also harness your strength and desire for personal growth and change and translate it into action and solutions!

We will meet for 45-50 minute sessions. Frequency of sessions will be determined during our first meeting. Sessions are typically scheduled weekly. Depending on your goals for therapy, I may ask you to complete certain activities outside of session. Usually, therapy is discontinued when symptoms and difficult situations have improved. Many people find benefit from the impartial viewpoint and listening ear of their therapist and choose to continue therapy after their initial symptoms are resolved scheduling “tune-up” sessions monthly or quarterly.

The greatest predictor of success in therapy is the relationship we create. I strive to provide a nonjudgmental, caring, safe environment to foster the trust necessary for you to feel comfortable and supported in our therapeutic journey. By the end of the first session, you should have an idea if my style is right for you and if you feel comfortable enough to continue to work with me.
